Mother Nature does some of her best creative art work at the summit of the Monts-Valin in the Valley of the Phantoms just a short drive from the city of Saguenay, Quebec. The valley at the summit of the mountains receives up to 7 metres of snowfall annually.
The snow and frost in the air completely cover the trees and the landscape becomes a wonderfully eerie sight to behold. A 3 km intermediate level snowshoeing trail winds its way through the snowy shapes and over an elevation change of 320 m to a spectacular view of the entire region.
A heated refuge along the trail provides the ideal picnic spot to warm up your toes during the excursion. A 45 minute shuttle service from the park entrance to the trailhead is available on a regular basis throughout the winter season.
