Fort Témiscamingue/Obadjiwan commemorates the role played by this trading post for nearly 200 years. In particular, it bears witness to the considerable rivalry between English and French as they struggled to control the Hudson Bay fur trade. The fort also commemorates 6,000 years of Aboriginal presence, Témiscamingues successive fur trade monopolies held by the North West and Hudsons Bay companies, and the roles of the missionaries and lumberjacks after the fur trade dwindled. See the Obadjiwan ou Au Détroit du Lac exhibition. Watch an informative film and set off on the outdoor discovery circuit. Discover the people and places of yesteryear, and dont forget the famous Enchanted Forest with its strangely shaped cedars! |
