Cité de l'Or More details...
Make a date with history! The Bourlamaque mining village, built by the Lamaque mining company in 1935 to house its workers, is today a mining interpretation centre. You’re in for a memorable visit 91 metres (300 feet) underground, where you can get a taste of what it was like to be a miner in search of gold in the tunnels of the former Lamaque Gold Mine. The underground tour is complemented by a tour of the surface structures, including the assay office, where you can be initiated into the transformation from ore to gold, and the very impressive hoist room.
