Québec covers a vast territory encompassing incredibly diverse natural wonders. From one region to the next, you’ll find endless opportunities to observe unique fauna and flora, breathtaking mountain ranges, countless lakes and rivers, and immense forests. In short, the province promises a natural vacation experience that you’ll remember long after your visit!
Many of the sights that Québec’s expansive and generous nature has to offer are protected: there are numerous regional and municipal parks, and 27 national parks. The latter, operated either by the Sépaq (Société des établissements de plein air du Québec) or Parks Canada, abound with a variety of unforgettable outdoor experiences, each with a distinct character. City dwellers aren’t left out of the picture either: some parks are just a stone’s throw from major urban centres – they include Parc de la Gatineau and Parc national des Îles-de-Boucherville (near Montréal).

A number of parks show off the majesty and beauty of the St. Lawrence River and others that flow into it. Parc national du Bic, a wonderful amalgam of islands, capes, coves and bays, is a fine example of the stunning vistas that can result where waters meet shoreline. The grandeur of the Saguenay Fjord and its sheer cliffs is hard to beat; memorable views can be had along the trail network in Parc national du Saguenay or directly from the water with trips on the fjord offered by Croisières Marjolaine. Farther east, Parc national de l’Île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé offers postcard-perfect sea- and landscapes. And why not take the time to cycle along the Véloroute des Bleuets bike circuit to discover the sheer size of Lac Saint-Jean!
