 We’ve never met a kid who doesn’t love riding a carousel, and plenty of teens and adults alike live for the thrills and chills of theme park rides. Québec is lucky enough to have an outstanding amusement park just minutes from downtown Montréal: La Ronde, part of the Six Flags Family, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and plenty of special programming has been concocted to underline the event. There are now over 40 rides at La Ronde, including 17 new attractions that have opened since 2002. Looking for the ultimate adrenaline rush? Strap yourself in the Goliath, the tallest and fastest rollercoaster anywhere in Canada... Another choice destination in the amusement park category is the Méga Parc, located inside Galeries de la Capitale shopping centre in Québec City. Featuring 20 attractions and rides, it’s the largest indoor theme park in eastern Canada.

 Train trips are a great way to see the best sights in a given region and spend some unforgettable moments with the family. The Hull-Chelsea-Wakefield Steam Train offers panoramic rides between the city of Gatineau and the picturesque village of Wakefield, in the Outaouais region. The trip on board a real steam train – the locomotive turns 100 years old this year – includes commentary from guides as well as entertainment from musicians and singers. And this summer in the Eastern Townships region, the Orford Express makes its maiden voyage between Sherbrooke and Magog. The trip, which is available with or without an onboard meal, takes travellers through magnificent landscapes dotted with mountains, valleys, plains, lakes and rivers.
