In the summer, Québec’s cities are teeming with festivals and events. Join the party and take part in the popular outdoor events that encapsulate the liveliness and fun-loving nature of a Québec summer.

This year, Québec City is celebrating its 400th anniversary. What a great opportunity to get together with friends and family and join the festivities! A number of special activities are planned throughout the year, and local festivals have scheduled an extraordinary set of events for the occasion. During the Québec City Summer Festival, from July 3 to 13, the entire city moves and shakes to the rhythm of musical guests from all over the world. Then, from August 5 to 10, you are invited to attend the SAQ New France Festival and relive the days of the French Seigneurial Regime.
In Montréal, the festival capital, abandon yourself to the non-stop action that invades the city’s streets as soon as the hot season hits. Start your vacation on the right note at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, which takes over the downtown core from June 26 to July 6. A Québec institution, the festival pays tribute to jazz in all its forms through a top-notch lineup of the world’s best singers and musicians. Then, from July 10 to 20, the city chortles and chuckles at the Just for Laughs Festival, where street performers, comedians and entertainers of every genre bend over backward to raise a smile.
Festival-goers visiting Gatineau will be pleased to learn that Le Grand Rire de Gatineau is back again this year: from July 2 to 6, the fun is contagious! Hot-air balloon enthusiasts, in turn, can marvel at the giant multicoloured balloons in surprising shapes that fill the sky at the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival, August 29 to September 1st.
