key facts tips and tricks
Guided tours of the Olympic Stadium complex, lasting 30 minutes, are available. The itinerary includes a visit to the Sports Centre as well as the impressive stadium itself. Learn why the “Big O” – as it’s known by locals – is viewed as one of the marvels of modern architecture.

The Botanical Garden comprises 10 exhibition greenhouses and around 30 themed gardens. Also on site is the intriguing Montréal Insectarium, with several thousand insects on show, including live collections and mounted specimens.

Not quite a zoo, nor an aquarium, nor a garden – the Biodôme is all these things. Four ecosystems – Tropical Forest, Laurentian Forest, Saint Lawrence Marine and Arctic and Antarctic – are housed under one roof.
On a clear day, the view of Montréal and the surrounding area from the top of the Tower is magnificent. You can see up to 80 kilometres in all directions, and glimpse the Laurentian mountains, to the north.

Before you visit the Botanical Garden, log on to its official website. You’ll find a calendar of blooming periods, so you can find out what time of year your favourite flowers and plants will look their best!

One of the best times to visit the impressive Chinese Garden at the Botanical Garden is after sunset during the traditional Lantern Festival, which is held every year in September.

The height of summer is birthing time at the Biodôme: in the Arctic and Antarctic zone, the penguins are busy tending to their young. In moulting season, fuzzy feathers fly everywhere and the baby penguins are adorable in their “birthday suits.”
